The liquid distributor DT-S is a high quality distributor with open troughs each containing lateral outlet openings on both sides of the trough walls. Other features include a cover over the outlet openings and lateral baffles which have a centering effect on the descending liquid. Grooves in the lower end of the baffles create tongues which allow liquid to drip down into the bed in a controlled manner. A parting box is located above the troughs and usually fed by a feed-pipe.

Distributors of this type are usually installed in columns with a diameter > 300mm. The distributor is used for liquid velocities between 5 m³/m²h and 80 m³/m²h and gas capacity factors > 2.5 Pa^0.5. The standard loading range of the distributor is 3:1
