The hold-down plates type HP-P are used in combination with structured packings, lie on top of them and are stayed at the column wall. The plates are intended to prevent movement in the packed bed. The liquid distributors used together with packings are supported on the metal HP‑P hold-down plate by adjustable bolts, thus making a support ring structure unnecessary.
